Job purpose

 

Take a concept through design to production, fully documenting time, material and overhead costs to determine feasibility.  Supervisory oversight includes coordinating R&D projects to stay on schedule, working with employees to perfect their work and efficiency, correcting problems in the process, and coordinating pre-processes such as parts and material order, cutting, drilling, welding and assembling in a smooth system. You are the first step in our R&D quality control process. This role has a customer facing aspect for technical support, and warranty administration.


Duties and responsibilities


Training and oversight of employees in all aspects of our processes down to the last detail.  You are responsible lead, train, and promote an eager attitude of people in your department. As Design Administrator you must insist on and maintain a clean and neat appearance and workspace, show respect for all employees, and carry yourself in a clean, dignified and humble manner.  It is expected that you will arrive before regular staff and stay after to complete follow through and preparation tasks. Know all features and benefits, as well as the manufacturing processes of all KAGE products. It is also expected that you will work across departments, looking for opportunities to help others.


  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of all Kage product lines
  • Design concepts to plans on CAD.
  • Present revisions and details to improve product and minimize cost.
  • Ensure communications with production and sales on product and revision development.
  • Keep all tools / equipment organized and neat that relate to R&D operations.
  • Learn all aspects of our process. Take a hands-on approach to this. Get involved so that you have experience in the processes that are                   required of you and those you oversee.
  • Meet and plan with President and staff to keep product development timelines.
  • Expect and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Train employees the proper techniques for each job.
  • Hold your subordinates accountable to a high standard of technique, quality and speed.
  • Correct and hold accountable subordinates in a gentle but firm manner in order to make sure that our procedure and safety requirements are         followed.
  • Develop written/video procedures for R&D processes and store on M-Files for easy access as needed. Update these documents / videos as           needed.
  • Suggest personnel changes and additions in the department as needed.
  • Make yourself available to answer questions from the Team and customers.
  • Keep your computer skills up to date.

 

Qualifications


Qualifications include:

  • Kage operational, production and safety process
  • Proven - minimal errors in R&D systems and process
  • Encouraging Leadership abilities
  • 2 years CAD experience
  • Field experience using landscaping and / or snow plowing equipment.


Working conditions


This position will be subject to hot and cold environments. Regular evening and weekend work in certain seasons are necessary, including differential shift work and working outdoors.  Some travel may be necessary.  Meeting product development deadlines is essential.


Physical requirements


This is a physically demanding job.  You will be expected to consistently be on your feet for 8-10 hours.  Regular lifting of 50-100 lbs. while performing repetitive tasks with few breaks is common.
